HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair 2010
20-23 April 2010
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

Fair Delivers Quality Houseware Buyers
As Asia's largest houseware event, the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair offers unparalleled opportunities to promote your products and company image to a large numbers of serious international buyers.

Experience Counts
Proudly celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2010, the fair has behind it a wealth of experience and has again and again proved its worth in business generated and contacts made. The 2009 event attracted over 26,000 buyers from 126 countries and regions. The biggest names in the world of houseware ensure their presence, sending buying teams controlling big budgets. To mention just a few of these big corporations, in 2009 they included Banak, Federated Co-Operatives Ltd, Galeries Lafayette, Home Centre, MorganWare, Nitori Co Ltd, The Mall Group Co Ltd, WalMart and Z Gallerie. Taking advantage of the opportunity to meet so many quality trade visitors in 2009 were more than 2,200 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions.

City-Centre Location
The fair's prime downtown location at the state-of-the-art Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is an attractive asset, with its superb transport connections and accessibility to hotels ensuring participants can visit with ease.

Positive Outlook
A survey conducted during the HKTDC "mega" fairs in April 2009 revealed interviewed buyers' willingness to do business: 68% said they were increasing or maintaining the value of orders, with a higher percentage of those from emerging markets intending to increase orders. A total of 83% said they would order more value-for-money products and 68% favoured Hong Kong fairs as the source of such products. Over 99% of interviewees were satisfied with the HKTDC April fairs.

Zones of Influence
Special themed zones enhance the show's effectiveness and help exhibitors make contact with their targeted buyers. The acclaimed Hall of Elegance is a well-established fair favourite, while making their first appearance are World of Fine Dining, Home Accents, Home Living and Outdoor Living all focusing on growing sectors in the world of houseware.

Hall of Elegance
This prestigious zone puts the focus on brand names and designer collections in an exclusive setting. Here exhibitors can showcase their creativity and brand image, as well as conduct meaningful business with buyers.

World of Fine Dining
Located in a prime area of the fairground, this zone offers the perfect environment for displaying bar accessories, kitchenware and tableware. In order to fully reflect the latest trends, the zone offers a choice of deluxe booth or raw space for self-designed booths. This unique setting lets exhibitors show off the latest colours, shapes, styles and gadgets to best effect.

Home Accents
This is the zone for suppliers of a wide variety of products that are designed to put zest into living spaces, including artificial flowers, handicraft and home decor.

Home Living
Tapping into the trend for making homes more comfortable as well as hygienic and safe, this zone is the place for suppliers of cleaning products & supplies, hardware & DIY and small electrical appliances to reach out to international buyers.

Outdoor Living
The desire among consumers to live a "green" life as well as making full use of the home for relaxation, is providing a boost to the gardening and outdoor accessories sector. This zone will attract buyers with its wide range of functional and decorative items for the outdoors.

Worldwide Publicity
The fair is promoted astutely in markets and potential markets worldwide, thanks to HKTDC's far-reaching marketing programme, aided by our global network of offices. Exhibitors benefit greatly from this expertise and experience in reaching the right buyers.

Special Highlight
Following the success of its launch in 2009, World of Pet Supplies returns even stronger, and ready to tap into the growing demand for pet-related products and services, aquatic products, veterinary products plus shop fittings & packaging. Exhibitors get the opportunity to meet a huge range of buyers, from specialist pet companies to chain stores and department stores and wholesalers.

Concurrent Event on Home Textiles
The spin-off event, HKTDC Hong Kong International Home Textiles Fair, will cover a wide range of home and contract textiles with style, including textiles for the bathroom and bedroom, carpet & floor coverings, interior & decor textiles, table & kitchen textiles and wall coverings. This is a great opportunity to market your products to a worldwide audience of quality buyers.

Exhibitors' Comments
We have been exhibiting here for about 10 years. The timing is good as there are many buyers in Hong Kong at this time of year - at this fair they can see the new trends in the houseware industry. This time we've had more buyers from the Middle East and South America than previous years. As far as the organisation of the show - HKTDC does a good job of promoting this fair.
Eric Ng, Marketing Director,
Sun Cheong Industrial Co., Hong Kong

We have been exhibiting at this fair for more than 10 years and we get a good response from buyers. Many of our regular customers, including big chains and department stores, come here every year to visit us. The purpose of the show has changed for us over the years - now it is mainly about promoting our image.
Jacky Liu, General Manager,
To Ngai Earthware Co., Ltd., Hong Kong

Buyers' Comments
Already I have found new suppliers here with whom I will start working. They include a Hong Kong manufacturer of glassware - the quality is very good and the price is more competitive than my existing suppliers in Europe. The organisation of the fair is very nice - the halls are easy to visit, the layout is clear and simple, plus the HKTDC office in France does a wonderful job.
Tarek El Maghalawy, Commercial Manager,
Arts & Civilisations, France

I am mainly here to meet with our regular suppliers to give them a better view of the market situation in Slovakia, so we can all work together. This has been very helpful. I visit many fairs in Europe and Asia and the Hong Kong Houseware Fair is one of the best organised. Staff here are always willing to assist me.
Daniel Cech, Director,
Makro, Slovakia

Hong Kong Again Ranked World's Freest Economy
Hong Kong remains the world's freest economy, for the 12th year in a row, according to the findings of the Fraser Institute of Canada's "Economic Freedom of the World: 2008 Annual Report". It pays tribute to Hong Kong's unswerving commitment to free trade and open markets, and the elimination of barriers to trade and investment. For example, it enjoys low corporate and salaries taxes, no sales tax, and it is considered one of the easiest places in the world to set up a business - all of which make Hong Kong attractive to companies around the world that invest in or trade with the Special Administrative Region. It was also ranked the world's freest economy for the 15th consecutive year by The Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal.

Hong Kong - The Gateway to the Chinese mainland Market
The Chinese mainland is an important market in its own right, which has been growing by leaps and bounds in the past decade. Not only are incomes rising, but people are also becoming more aspirational and desiring better quality, well-designed products. As other markets stagnate or even shrink, suppliers can find new opportunities in the mainland. Rupert Steiner, writing in the UK's Daily Mail, notes, "Firms best-equipped to weather the financial downturn are those in diverse markets that include China..." However, China's size and diversity can be daunting for overseas companies, but Hong Kong offers the perfect stepping stone into this market. Participation in HKTDC exhibitions not only puts you into direct contact with buyers from the mainland, but it also enables contact with Hong Kong companies with expertise in the Chinese mainland market.
