  Perfect Porcelain
Hong Kong has great expertise in porcelain production, and pieces from the latest creative collections by members of the Hong Kong Porcelain Merchants Association can be viewed at the display area at Hall 1 Concourse.

Scandinavian Design Blends with Asian Efficiency
Exquisite design that is within reach of everyone was the topic of the sharing session at Hall 1 Oasis with Qdo International Limited on day three of the show. Speaking at the session, attended by buyers and international media, Patrick Heng, President, explained that Qdo International was the result of collaboration between a Hong Kong company and Danish private label brand Qdo (Quality design objects). “It is the perfect combination of Scandinavian design innovation and Asian production efficiency,” he explains. “The products are designed in Denmark and produced with Asian high-volume efficiency, and sold directly out of China. This means a short, smooth and effective value chain.” The Qdo brand is sold in Japan, most of Scandinavia and France, and there are plans to move into the Chinese mainland market with its own retail store.” The Hong Kong Houseware Fair will remain a key for Qdo: “It attracts international buyers,” says Mr Heng. “It’s also a good event for launching new products.”

  Hear What Buyers Say
"Hadi Enterprises is part of the Al Abbas Group, one of the UAE’s most successful business enterprises. We specialise in consumer durables, and I am here mainly to source porcelain and cutlery, as well as kitchen gadgets – I always like to find new designs, new colours and new shapes, whether from existing suppliers or new ones. My colleagues and I come to this show every year, and we place orders worth about US$20 million with Hong Kong and Chinese mainland companies as a result of our visit. The fair is well organised and it is easy to find what I want thanks to the hall sign boards and the fair directories.”
C. C. Chandy, Managing Director, Hadi Enterprises, UAE

“We have an annual turnover of A$12 million, of which most of it now comes from our new online business. So I’m here to source lightweight products that can be easily sent through the mail. HKTDC provided me with a list of 30 suitable exhibitors before the fair through the business matching service, and I’d say I’ve visited about 20 of them. I’ve found very interesting items such as pop-up tents and swimming pools for pets, dog grooming brushes, pet houses and toys. The organisation of the fair is excellent and I will definitely be back.”
Natale Mark Perissinott, Director, VetShop Australia Pty Ltd., Australia

  Asean Art
The Cultural Performances have enthralled fair visitors who enjoyed seeing some of the rich heritage of Asia - and there's more to see at ASEAN Select at Grand Hall, where more than 100 exhibitors from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam are displaying an amazing array of products for the home.

  Excellent Exhibiting
“We target fashion-conscious buyers who want pet products that match their own style and their home decor – most of our customers are in Europe, but there is great potential in the pets market around the world at the moment. We joined World of Pet Supplies in 2009 because we knew that the organiser would put a lot of effort into fair promotion. I made many more contacts than I expected. This time I’ve met buyers from South East Asia, India, Middle East, and many from Japan, plus the Chinese mainland. It is interesting to meet the mainland customers as they tell me they like Hong Kong products because of the innovation, technology and design.”
Priscilla Li, Director, Brilliant Champ Consultants Co., Ltd., Hong Kong

“We exhibit at the Houseware Fair every year. It is where all the big buyers come every time, so it’s a good opportunity for them to see the latest products in the market. We first made contact with several of our long-term customers here, and it is the reason we keep coming back, to let them know about our latest developments. For example, this year we’ve been showing our anti-bacterial vacuum cleaner head. The fair is organised very well – HKTDC has a lot of experience.”
Michelle Fan, Marketing Executive, C. Art Ltd., Hong Kong

“This is the biggest event in the houseware industry in Asia – the buyer figures for this show are always good. It is an excellent channel for us to find new buyers and launch new products every year. I’d say we always find new clients every time here. We also get the opportunity to maintain good relationships with our existing clients and show them our new developments. Business has been good this week, and we’ve been talking with buyers from Turkey, Asia, including Japan, and the Middle East, including Dubai and Saudi Arabia.”
Kent Chau, General Manager, Inhesion Industrial Co., Ltd., Hong Kong

“Now that the global economy is recovering, people are wanting to source more new products, and we’ve been particularly encouraged to meet many of our distributors from Asian markets here this week. We are keen to focus on these markets with our Loveramics brand, which promotes an idea of affordable luxury, and is aimed at younger people. The Hall of Elegance gets better every year; there is plenty of space here and many exhibitors really make an effort with their booth design, which creates synergy in the zone.”
Donathan Chan, Senior Brand Manager, Lynns Concepts Ltd, Hong Kong

“This is our first time to participate in this event and we’re here as part of the India Pavilion. Hong Kong is an environment where East meets West, where you get a wealth of ideas and you can make good contacts, so this encouraged me to take part. I believe my company has a lot to offer buyers because people are always looking for something different, and we can offer that with our home accents and home living products. We’ve met buyers from Japan, United States, Europe, Middle East, Russia and Ukraine. Some of our existing customers are here at the show, and they’ve been very happy to see us and look at our new designs. The organiser is doing a very good job here – the attention to detail is wonderful.”
Satya Paul, President, Paul Salon, India

“Our pet toys and accessories are made in the Chinese mainland, but our designs originate in Japan under our own brand called Everyday Holiday, and are intended to be a lot of fun. Until now we have only sold our lines in Japan, but now we wish to expand, hence our participation here. The pet industry is getting bigger all the time. We’ve received many enquiries at this show, from Europe, Asia, South America and the Chinese mainland in particular, and have received orders here. One customer has placed an order worth US$20,000, plus we have also taken test orders to the value of US$30,000 for a chain store, which has the potential to go much further.”
Kenji Harano, Director, Saito Japan Co., Ltd., Japan

“We have been manufacturing non-stick cookware in Switzerland for more than 35 years. We are exhibiting here for the first time – we deal with exclusive distributors in individual markets, but three markets still open for us are Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, and we believe we can meet prospective partners here. Everything at the show is very good - no trade show organiser in the world makes as much effort as HKTDC and that is very much appreciated.”
Amir Alon, CEO, Swiss Diamond International Sarl, Switzerland

“Our company specialises in accent furniture and home decor products manufactured in Vietnam using local materials and designs. We work closely with our clients, who are mainly from Europe, producing items based on their themes. However, we now wish to find new clients in different markets and we knew that this fair attracts buyers from around the world. We’ve been very happy to meet visitors from places such as Brazil and Australia this week. We’ve had good feedback on our products – our style is new to them. We are very hopeful that we will get business as a result and we will be able to forge some long-term partnerships.”
Nguyen Anh Tuyet, General Manager, Truong Thinh Manufacturing & Trading Co., Ltd., Vietnam

"We are engaged in wholesale distribution of international brands and operate a chain of 10 department stores in the Middle East. This is my first participation in the exhibition to find new suppliers for home linen products to enrich our variety. I am really surprised to see so many products from different countries and regions at the fair. I've already placed orders with several suppliers from Chinese mainland and India. Hong Kong is an international platform for traders as we can find brands and suppliers from all over the world. This is the best fair I've ever seen and I expect to spend about US$300,000 here."
Manoj Kanaya, Merchandise Manager (Department Stores), Jashanmal National Company L.L.C., UAE

"We are a retail operator with 1,096 stores across India including hypermarkets, stores for apparel and consumer goods as well as our Reliance Living shops for homeware, furniture and furnishings. I am here looking for new suppliers and I've found quite a number of interesting products such as furnishings and carpets at the fair. The quality and design of products is very good. It's so nice to have a separate home textiles exhibition and that really helps visitors get everything they want in one place."
Harish Menon, General Manager, Reliance Retail Limited, India

"Our company has been in the cosmetics business for 20 years. We branched out to home decoration retailing last year and that's why we joined this exhibition in Hong Kong. We are pleased with the results as we have established contacts with new suppliers for a series of products including bedding, cushion, linen and other home accessories. The fair features a great variety of exhibitors. We can see suppliers from different countries such as Vietnam and India all under one roof. This is perfect."
Renata Minami, Executive Director, Sumire Cosmetics, Brazil
